Monroe has had a tremendous impact on the lives of the pilots in the virtual 353rd. We are greatful that his battle with cancer was a brief one but he told us over and over that he has had a wonderful life.
We shared with him the birth of our children, the loss of spouses, graduations, wedding announcements, job changes, and all the things that life threw at us. He shared with us the achievements of his children and grand children (he loved a full house!) as well as Kay's battle and eventual passing. We grieved with him and the family. Most of us never had the opportunity to shake his hand but we spoke with him almost every night for the last 10 years. He has impacted our live beyond the realm of flying. We leave you with his Saturday night sign off that he used each and every week,
"See you in church in the mornin' boys...I'll be up on in the front"
We know Kay and so many others have already welcomed him home.
